About Alexis
Alexis DeMangelaere is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and works with teens and adults ages 12 and older. Her clients come to her for help with anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, and attachment concerns. She also works with people who want to build stronger social skills, parents who are looking for more effective ways to support their children, and clients who are adjusting to a major change such as a new school, a new role, or a new stage of life.
Alexis has completed Gottman Level 1 training, which gives her a research-based framework for helping clients improve communication and connection in their relationships. She is also a certified animal-assisted intervention specialist, with training in how the bond between people and animals can support emotional growth and healing.
Alexis draws on CBT with an emphasis on its behavioral side, so clients leave sessions with concrete steps they can practice in their daily lives. She also uses narrative therapy to help clients look at the stories they tell about themselves and solution-focused therapy to keep the work centered on their goals. When a situation calls for it, she brings in strategic therapy to help clients and families shift patterns that are keeping them stuck.
